Hey There,

Just started using this great module but I have run into a problem since going live.

It seems that the Subscription Tools is not adding the role to the user, even after a succesfull paypal payment. The user has a receipt against them and the money is in our paypal account, but the membership role is not added! There are no errors in the event log and everything looks good except for the missing role!

Thanks for the reply. Yes indeed. Been using a paypal embeded button for months. Site has been live for about 6 months.

I just had this happen also. I received payment notification and assumed all was well, then a few days later I get an email from the user saying they did not get access to the premium stuff.

Sure enough, their security level did not change. No errors in the logs.

I'm not getting that many upgrades at the moment so it is no big deal, but we are about to really start trying to sell it.


I am not on the most recent version, I think I am one back - the last one didn't seem like it added anything I needed so i didn't get it. I will be installing it shortly just in case though.

I just looked at the reports for the subscription module and there is no entry for him there. So the module some how sent him to paypal and he paid but the module did not get confirmation of it?

Did the receipt have any accentuated characters on it? I still think there maybe a encoding issue.

Ah - yes - he was from germany so there was a u with 2 dots over it...

I've been keeping an eye on this module for a month now and it does seem a bit hit and miss. I have had 30 odd subscriptions since I started using it, and out of that 30, roughly 13 have resulted in no role being added. This means I am having to check every single transaction :(

No, no accentuated characters.

I think I may have found the problem though.... it appears that only people with confirmed addresses get added automatically. Those with unconfirmed addresses need to be done manually!

I've been keeping an eye on the emails I get and so far every one that has failed to add automatically has been unconfirmed.

Any work around for this? Is this a known problem?

I'm wondering if it doesn't process payment until the email address has been confirmed then? It still should notify your site via IPN.

It's not for unconfirmed email addresses, it's for paypal accounts that have unconfirmed postal addresses.

If you have a paypal account, you can confirm your postal address to paypal. It seems that people without confimed postal addresses do not get added to the roles.

Interesting. The one I had that did not get added to the role has both a special character and an unconfirmed address status.. Payment was made and credited to me immediately, just has a little warning at the bottom that the address has not been confirmed.

Mine did *not* have any special characters, but like yours had the unconfirmed postal address. I have seen 12 of them now and every single payment without the confirmed postal address fails. Every single one (8 in the last month) that *did* have a confimed postal address went through without problem.

I still receive the money and a receipt is created.. it just doesn't add them to the role.

I just had one with an unconfirmed paypal address and it worked fine. No special characters.

We are using the whole site in danish lots of characters like Æ Ø Å æ ø å
and unfortunatly ... nobody gets put into role

OK, it seems that a majority of users who are unconfirmed are not getting their roles added, but I am also getting the occasional user that IS confirmed not added too.

I'm not talking huge amounts here.. maybe 3-4 a month, but annoying none the less as it means I have to check EVERY registration.
