hi Scott,
As I have mentioned before, it would be great to see subscription tools as a complete package including the registration process.
Here is a question:
if you have a subscription site that:
- Allows visitors to view News Articles module summaries
- Allows users to view pages where the top module is text/html that describes the page and is visible to all. Below that is a module, example ActiveForums, that is only visible to Silver, Gold, and Platinum subscribers
- Registration is available to complete the subscription process although registered users really don't have any more rights than unauthenticated users
To give insight to a user that registers but has not yet subscribed, I tried using the Subscription content module. The idea was to, as example of the ActiveForums module and Discussions Forum page:
- Retain the top descriptive paragraph
- Instead of just seeing this paragraph and nothing else (example: Secured Discussionn Forum), I want registered users to see informative content that describes, even though they have registered, membership has its advantages. etc. Otherwise, they will go to these pages with the idea that the site has no real content.
The problem is that Gold, Silver, and Platinum members are also registered users so everybody sees this content.
Gold, silver, and Platinum members should not have to see a membership has advantages section below the Discussion Forum. I hope I am making this clear.
I do not yet know what the consequences are of removing a subscribed user in a membership role from the registered users role. Nor, do I want to do that.
Is there any work around for this? |
