I have a scenario where for some reason my subscriptions will not be assigned a role automatically. The last time this occurred it happend for about 5 or 6 sunscriptions in a row and then started working again.
The paypal transaction occurs just fine. I get the paypal email notice but there is no receipt, and no record (on the reports) of the transaction.
Can someone tell me what points of failure I can look for to figure this out?

| Hmm, I assume they are following the subscribe link? When they hit this link, it actually creates an uncompleted receipt at that stage and marks it as completed when it returns from paypal. |

I am seeing the uncompleted receipt in the _Order table. I also see the payment in my paypal account.
I do not see anything in _Receipt with respect to the uncompleted orders. As a matter of fact I see the last payment in _Receipt was from three days ago. I have had two purchases since then that did not get processed automatically even though payment was received.
I don't know if this is related, but my _Receipts show OK dates for create/start/end but when I run a DETAIL report it seems to be showing the date they created an account on the site as opposed to the date of purchase. |

The reports should the dates from the receipts table, I'm not sure where it would get the account created date?
As for the receipt not being there, the IPN order is not being completed (e.g. your site is not being notified) of the payment. Do you have a premier or business account? This is required to receive IPN notifications. |
