It would be great if we could display the available subscriptions to unauthenticated users but not allow them to make a selection until they are logged in. This would save us the time of recreating the available plans in another module.

| This sounds like a good idea - I'll see what I can do. There is already a screen for unauthenticated users though, but it does not list the plans. |

| Right, it would just be nice to list the plans so they could see whats available before they create an account. |

After they have registered.. the Subscription Status still shows the plan (role) they have. I thought it was supposed to give them the current status and any other plans that were available?
Also fyi.. both modules give a default title of Subscription Status .. where the content should be Subscrption Content. |

| If you go to "view options" and check "multiple subscriptions", they will be able to do this. |

I found what I think is the problem....
I have plans but I have given some users the role for free .. but when they login, they are still asked to Subscribe.
How can I prevent that? A sync between core roles and the role in Subscription Status (same role). |

That could open a giant can of worms in the future could it not?
How would you manage renewals and reminders. I think it would be much better to create a role for free and paid of each available subscription. |

You could simply use a Text/HTML module showing the available subscription plans and set the permissions to be for Unauthenticated Users with a link to register (being the first step in subscribing). Then for the redirect after registering, take them to the subscription signup page where they can select the plan and complete payment. That is what I am doing. Just a thought! |

Thats what the "available plans in another module" refers to. |

Its a free intro ... I give it for a year.. so when it expires I want them to see the subscription and pay.
What would be nice is .. if we could display Subscription Status inside of Subscription Content. This would let you display specific subscriptions to specific roles.
Right now you cannot do that in dnn.. which is why Subscription Content was created. It just needs to be taken to another level. For example.. I want to show additional items but only to those at the gold role. Those at silver role only see Gold role.
Things are a little limited right now....
I actually thought for as long as Subscription Tools has been out.. it would have more features.
In my one case.. people are subscribed to the role.. its just that I gave it to them. The module shouldnt care how they got it.

You can use the "edit receipts" screen to add people in for subscription access. This adds them to the role AND the receipt table.
This is the way I add "host memberships"

So if I understand this correctly, you want to display specific content to users of a certain subscription. Could you not use a standard text/html module for this targetted at that role?
As for the people subscribed to the role line, see my message above. |

Scott,
Will doing this send a notification to the user? I already added them to the role in question within DNN, but I would like the subscription tools module to know about his subscription. |

1. great idea except Im talking about a few hundred users.. and it was easy to add them using role management within dnn..
2. not target content .. target subscription options based on role...
this is actually a problem on your website too... if they are registered, show the subscriptions .. if they subscribed.. show some other content...

It's not possible at the moment, but I would imagine a synch feature in the module would allow this to happen. The synch would add people in with an appropriate receipt (if one didn't exist).

I might need some further explanation on the content.
The way I understand it at the moment, is that the subscription module a list of plans to signup to (registered users), a login message (anonymous users) or a list of receipts (subscribers + former subscribers).
The way I understand the content piece to work is that it will check a list of roles for content, starting at the top and working its way down the list. If a matching piece of content is found for a role a user belongs to, it is displayed.
Can you explain what you are trying to do again? |
