What do others think, would there be a need for a Online Banking Processor?

The only drawback I can see is that admins would have to add users manually to their roles once payment is complete (or whoever) but still I think that this would be a reasonable option.

My problem is that a lot of companies are often not willing to sign up with Paypal or any of the others - I'll have to provide them with an alternative.

Cheers, Philipp

This is my understanding in Australia.

Option 1:Your own banking link (eg Camtech)
My immediate concern is lack of SSL support in Dotnetnuke, which would be a prerequisite in online banking functions.  The issue of dealing with the banks to set up a merchant facility and satisfying their criteria may not be a simple task either.

Option 2:Use bank or merchant site.
You can temporarily transfer to their site and use their SSL.  You still need to set up a merchant facility with the bank.  These sites are called with the postback page so that results are returned immediately to your site.

In either case, immediate feedback on success of payment is given so you can automatically set the role. You have to demonstrate your site working before the banks will consider your application.  Option 2 is the easiest to implement and would require a custom module on the postback page to check for status and create roles.

I also do have an issue using PayPal and other non Australian credit card facilities.  My preference is debit card rather than credit card in my everyday transactions.  I would much rather do an online bank transfer using my own bank (who I should be able to trust and am able to walk down the road and talk to someone about it if any issues arise) or send a cheque.  I think other people would also like to have this flexibility.

I'll be trying to use a provider for payment, so I'll start with paypal, then 2checkout, then we will see what we can add from there..

Sorry, my understanding was much simpler. By means of an online banking provider I'd rather have something where I can display my bank details. A user would have anoption to use either one of the processors provided or use traditional payment methods. If using the traditional way his request would automatically be pending.

The traditional option interface could simply be a textbox where I can enter my bank details - pretty much like the additional payment information box in ebay.

Otherwise it gets pretty much comlicated, Australia has its BSB number, others don't and Germany (where I wantto use it) has a Bank Number and so on...

Cheers, Philipp

I'm going to add my vote for 2Checkout support.  This would be a great addition (and provides a useful alternative to PayPal).
