Hi Scott.

The Subscriber module seems to be working fine, have one instance on the home page and one on the "Contact us" page.

BUT I CAN'T SET THE USER PERMISSIONS AS I WANT TO HAVE THEM!!

Might not be for this Forum but I give it a go.
(Posted in DotNetNuke and DNN as well.)

I have now installed the Ventran Subscriber tools, and it looks good. (So far so good. )

This is a 2 step process; First the visitor need to register on the site, and then he can subscribe through the Ventran module.

www.buyyourcar.com.au

I thought I leave the HOME page available for "all users" as a landing page.  All other pages hidden.

Then when a visitor have registered he will have access to the Ventran Module. In addition I thought I should give registered users access to the "Contact Us" page as well.

I would be hiding a "Download"  page and the "Forum" page.

PROBLEM;
Whether I set permission to "Registered Users" or "Subscribers" I am displaying all pages for ane basic level of registrant??   How can I filter this?

Cheers

I use the subscription content module to optionally show to those users in particular roles.

If you add multiple content targeting different roles, they will see different content.

Thanks Scott

I was hoping to have different "Page Access Permissions"?

I have set the Page Permission to "Subscriber", but as soon as I register I have access to the page.

How do I make a difference between "Registered Users" and "Subscribers"??
(At the moment they seem to have the same permissions.)

Cheers

One thing you might be running into is that by default in DNN, new users are automatically assigned to the Registered Users & Subscribers security roles.  It sounds like you want to differentiate the two.  I never liked using Subscribers as a membership role because of legacy use for Newsletter opt-in.  And if someone wishes to opt out of Newsletters..you can see that it would interfere with your intended purpose.  I recommend creating separate Membership security roles with auto-assignment disabled.

John has the right answer - I wouldn't be using the subscribers role because people can be auto-subscribed to it.

Thanks John and Scott.

Hmm, trying to understand.

I have now changed security roles so that “registered users” have only access to the homepage, while “subscribers” have access to all pages. (Changing the default setting John.)

This is the wording used in the subscription tool, I need to be a “registered user” to get access, and get the option to “subscribe”.

QUESTIONS;
Does the subscription tool by default change the DNN user level from “registered user” to “subscriber”, or am I still “registered user” even after I paid with PayPal?

Can I use the subscription tool to change my user level (security role) within DNN?

What you are suggesting, is that I create a new “membership security role” (I've see an editorial about that somewhere a long time ago.) And I should then be able to set the subscription tool to assign the role to a paid up user?????

Am I getting there???

Cheers

Thanks again guys.
Seems like we solved most problem now.

I set up a “security role” named “purchase”, and then sets the "subscription tool" to assign me to that role after purchase.

And I set the page permission for the download page to “purchase”, and I guess - after all - it was as simple as that.

So I'm happy with the "subscription tool", seems simple enough when I stop complicating it, and it now works fine.

Cheers for now…

Ahhh, one more thing;

Can I edit the below text in the "subscription tool"?

Particularly making "Subscription" as a button, or at least much larger.

Thanks!

You can only turn the subscription link into a button via css currently
