guys, can you help me on this. I'm installing a source dnn 4.6.2 version on my local pc.

What I did:

1. Created database named Dotnetnuke, my sql version is 2005

2. created a folder named Dotnetnuke in c:\ ---- c:\Dotnetnuke

3. made a copy of development.config under the website folder and named it web.config.

4. made some changes on the web.config file like the connection string pointed to the database, autoinstall wizard=false and autoupgrade to false.

5. created Dotnetnuke virtual directory pointed to c:\dotnetnuke\website

6. opened the Dotnetnuke.sln and build the website.

7. opened IE and typed on the url http://localhost/dotnetnuke_2/Install/install.aspx

this error occured......

It looks like you don't have the correct file permissions set so the worker process can read your DNN files.

It should be the network service account needs modify access on your DNN folder. The install guide should walk you through it.

Any reason you aren't using the wizard to install? I find it really good.

If you go on to the dotnetnuke site and into the downloads page, there is a link to download the documentation, the install file is pretty good.

This might help.

The steps should be the same but I would just go ahead and install 4.8.4 the latest version. Been running it for a while with no major issues.

My guess is that you forgot to include the legacy code in the web.config for codesubdirectories.
