Hi Folks,

I can't get all three of these to work together.

Here is my situation.  I'm setting up my client with SSL Redirect and URL Rewriter.  We are using the IP address until we are ready to move the actual domain name over.

After I set up SSL Redirect,  I can get it to work just using the IP and accessing what ever page I have associate with SSL in the special config filre.  There is however, a popup message about an invalid SLL cert.  This is becuase I'm using an IP instead of the actual domain name, which the cert was issued for.

So I click OK to pass the cert warning dialog and then SSL works fine.  Any page maked for HTTPS in the special config file gets redicrected to HTTPS and the lock icons, color bar, etc. show properly in my browser.

The problem happens with I try to use the URL rewriter.  I now get rerouted to a 404 page.  My guess is that when the URL rewriter encounters a "invalid cert/domain" dialog box, - or what ever it does encounter when trying to access an https page without a proper cert, it cannot "click on show me anyway" and so an error is thrown.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

I've responded to your email, I hadn't done any testing on an IP, but the basic premise of the HttpModule is:-

1. Find portal alias
2. Find TabPath

This seems to be causing a problem somewhere with IPs maybe, how long before you get a domain?

Hi Scott,

The domain will be moved over in a week or two. Because the current domain is live we will need to have the SSL running when we move the domain over. So I just won't have Friendly URLs running when the site first goes live. In the evening, when there is little action, I'll be able to check Friendly URLs and I'll let you know how it works.

Thanks,
Chris

Also - The URL rewriter works fine on an IP for all the pages that are not configured for SSL.

I've got the domain moved over. SSL Redirect and Friendly URLs are working fine together now. :-)

BTW - how do you get http://ventrian.com to fold over toe http://www.ventrian.com?

Is this possible in a shared host environment?

THanks,
Chris
