I may be missing the point here, but it looks like we have the option now to store user files in the database rather than the file system. What do we need to do during the upgrade process from say, 3.2 to 4.4 to covert from the filesystem to a secure-Database in terms of storing files? What exactly can we store? Has anyone made the leap already? I have a client who wants to get everything that they can into the database... can anyone enlighten us? I did a bit of research in google and didn't come up with mutch.
Thanks in advance

You can do this from the file manager in the administrator menu. Create a folder that is stored in the database. You can use the Documents module to upload files in that secure folder. That folder will be listed with a SQL icon so that you know it is secure.

Mariett, thanks for the response. Base on what you have said, it sounds like I need to specify which folders are actually going to be stored in the database.... so my assumption is that this is not a generic new container that all portal related user data is going to be stored in? I would also assume then, that not all modules yet support this feature? I'm guessing that it would have to be a manual approach to use this feature and that none of the current portal related files are going to be stored securely. What is the practical application for using the secured database storage? would it just be for downloads etc?
Thanks,
Jeff

You are correct. Not all modules support this. What module do you to use the secure storage option? Scott, can you please turn on the nice editor on this forum?
