I can't seem to get the sort order that I need for the record listing pages. I have set a sort order in the Property Manager but this is lost as soon as I exit that section and therefore has no impact on the listing order in the public areas of the web. .....or is there perhaps another place to fix the order??

Oh, that sort order effects only the property manager screen.
You want to change the default sort order for the listing pages, is that correct? I could probably add a drop down on the layout settings page that would allow you to control it, plus maybe a checkbox to show the sort order to the user so they can customize it. |

Yes, I'd like to be able to define a default sort order at the administrator level (i.e. price, ascending) and for the user to also have the option to change from that default to a limited range of other options. The usual options for sorting properties are cheapest first and newest first. This means being able to sort by record creation date.
Thanks |

I think there are still some bugs in the latest version:
- Most of the time. I cant move/change the listing order of Property Types or Categories
- I cant see the new functions you talk about in the latest release....."Ability to mark custom fields that are searchable with a search type of either "Default" or "Multiple" (Multiple is available only to drop down lists or radio buttons). If you select multiple, it will allow you to select multiple items in the search area (listbox for dropdown list or checkbox list for radio buttons). This is perfect for lists such as "bedrooms".
- Can there a quicker way to add a sort order value for each new Property Type and its Sub Category Listing? Or an option for Auto sort by alphabet order ?

.... Also everytime i update an existing property type - its order automatically dropped one level down the list ! . There has to be a better way to sort listing order - imagine all the time wasted trying to move a listing order through a long property list |

For item 1, I would like to take a look at your database to see what is going on. When you mean categories, do you mean property types? Are these the same thing?
For item 2, it is only available to "DropDownLists" and "RadioButtonLists" as these are the only ones that select multiple makes sense. Is your custom field one of these types?
For item 3, I am working on providing a "default sort order" for the listing page. There will also be a checkbox so you can allow users to change the sort order as well.
For your last item, your property types must be messed up, see item 1. Some configuration error at some point may have caused this. |

For item 3 again, it will sort the listings on the sort order, but not the type, this must be done on the "edit property types" screen.
I think I may have found an issue with the property types sort order after I added a new one. |

| It looks like adding a new property type messed up the order, a fix is in the next release. |

The ability to set a sort order is now in the latest release. You can also allow a user to change the sort when viewing results, etc.
For the property type sort order, this should also be fixed, but all property type sort orders would have been reset on upgrade too. |

It seems that the numeric field (currency) is sorted as alpha.

Hmm, in my tests it worked OK, I would have 3 properties 500, 20049 and 20050.
They seem to sort OK, do you know how I can reproduce? |

| Hmm, yes, there are some records out of order, so I'll reinvestigate the search code. |
