I currently have a DNN installation at a web host in Sweden which is ok, it is not very expensive ($25/month), unlimited domains, pretty good spacing (500 Mb), traffic 20 Gb/month etc. I have three different websites running there with a total of some +100 000 page views a month and 6000 unique visitors.

But, the host does not know a thing about DNN. I managed to install and get the site running by myself (DNN 4.0.2) but it got partly wrecked after a crash at the host when they then moved it to a new version of SQL server. Since then some user accounts and roles are not working properly as well as the system log. (Conflict of language version in database, don´t ask me what it means)

Therefore I have been hesitating to do an upgrade on that install. There is the possibilty to do a fresh install but then there would be the same problem when a new version arrives.

I have been thinking of finding a DNN host that takes care of the basic DNN portal installation. I have no problem installing modules, skins etc, but the main portal requires a lot of work (or rather knowledge).

Have been surfing around the net to find DNN hosts and found a few. I wonder if anyone out there have any experience from these hosts or can recommend another:
www.powerdnn.com
www.crystaltech.com
www.portalwebhosting.com

I want a host that keeps the DNN version up to date and reliable backup, then I can worry about the rest. I believe this is something that a lot of people around the DNN universe would want since it is a bit tricky doing the installation part. And of course be able to get some help when things don´t work inside DNN...

I use websecurestores, they do have experience with DNN (since there own site runs it!)

I'm not sure about taking care of the basic installation, you can install it from the console, that's about it.

I meant Tony from powerDNN, so if you were after a bit more, then maybe that's your best bet.

everybody reccomends PowerDnn, but I find it pricy for what it has to offer, I use WSS it's ok if you don't complain too much and don't ask support to often, also I use alpshost it's cheap a lot of space and traffic but support can be useless, and they don't allow more than 500 emails a day( everything more than that is a spam to them )

This isn't a specific DNN host, but I've heard some good things about Pac Hosting (www.pachosting.com) and there prices aren't too bad at all. They are situated in Hong Kong, and it's beginning to interest me as I have seen charts of their uptime which is at 100% for quite some time.

Let me know what you choose, and your experiences with things. :)

Orcsweb.com is probably one of the best hosts out there for anything asp.net related. They are very exspensive but if you want a host that's 100% reliable and will get back to your email support requests within an hour or so then they are the one to go with. I want to try out powerdnn for cheaper solution and would be interested in seeing how they compare.

I am now using PowerDNN for most of my projects. It is more expensive than the cheaper ones but what you pay for is knowledge of DNN. I would not recommend a host that does not know DNN, unless you yourself is an expert.

Even if DNN is easier to install today (I believe, have not done it myself since version 4.5 or something) if something goes wrong on the server side - I would not want to be stuck with a host that doesn't know a thing about DNN.

So, especially if you are using DNN for business purposes - don't go with the cheapest host. It aint worth it.
