Add additional status information
Feedback ID: 145 Status: Open
Product: Feedback Center Implemented? No
Created On: 9/12/2005 Created By: Jonathan Palmer
Details: It would be useful to have additional status options, e.g. Accepted, Rejected, Planned, In Process, Complete.

It would also be valuable to include dates for when each of the status' have been changed.

Please make these editable, like the products. Also, allow for sorting, so statuses can be ordered in a logical flow.

This could replace the Implemented field, so instead of boolean Yes|No, editable status, maybe with Complete = -1 replaces Implemented = yes. Other status could be 0: No Status, 1:Accepted, etc. This would give uses a great way to sort and filter items (really useful to see what's planned, done etc)

My thoughts are that this would be an extension to the Status field, where any of the user-defined statuses would be earmarked as either open or closed. For instance, I'd like the following: Unconfirmed, New, Need Info, Assigned, Reopened, In Progress, Resolved*, Verified*, and Closed*, where the latter three are in a closed state and the rest are considered open. Personally, I see the Implemented field being replaced by a Resolution field, which would specify things like: Fixed, Invalid, Do Not Fix, Duplicate, and Not Repeatable. Obviously, the first represents an implemented suggestion, whereas the latter four were not implemented (and also a very brief description of why, in a sense - more details can obviously be posted in comments).

These are just my suggestions based on how I like to configure my software issue trackers. Having these configurable is obviously the most important to allow others to modify them as they see fit.

I agree with all your suggestions, and will look at improving this aspect very soon.

It will be a very useful tool for myself, to track what I am doing, and be transparent to everyone else.
