New Design First Steps

The first steps of the new design are on the site.. What do you think?

The remaining immediate tasks are:-

  • Fix up styles to match in with new skins (module styles)
  • Begin to reorganise information hierarchy
  • Implement Subscription Tools
  • Implement new Friendly Url Provider
  • Update module walkthroughs

All this has to be done by the 28th of Feb! (The 1 year anniversary of this site!)

Looking good so far! There are obvious issues in the modules.... but it's clean!

No room for banners.... not going the advertising route I assume?

Quick thought.... perhaps put the "latest posts" in the forums on the left, so the main forums can spread out a bit and not be so crunched? Seems like I have to scroll a lot further now to get to the bottom.

Overall like it. Simple, gets the job done.

Does this mean we can (finally!) get away from using the green as the default color for all the modules. :)

A blue/gray color scheme (something semi-neutral) is a better way to go...

I like it, the colour scheme is very striking, yet simple and effective. I liked the previous layout tho of having all 4 modules adjacent to each other

I like the Logo

Wow what a surprise!!
The sexy sub-menus are too slow on loading for my patience level, but look great.
Given your audience, I wonder how many people are using a 800 width display and whether the site needs to be limited by that

what kind of connection are you on caroig, (for the sub-menu's to load slow?)

I may extend to 1024, it might be better for my audience.

The fade effect takes about 4 seconds to fully display the menu... anything else is looking great!

Do the menu's load faster now?

By johnt @ Friday, February 24, 2006 4:48 AM
Yes, much faster.
Thanks !
