Recently, I talked about using ComponentArt controls in my modules.
Part of my criteria had been:-
- Royalty free distribution, e.g. distribute on to as many servers as I wanted too.
- The ability to recompile the project for customers of this site (I know some of you like to make mods)
It seems I am okay on point 1 (royalty free distribution), but they do not allow or provide a solution where point 2 is possible. I found this a little intriguing as they recently signed a deal with TelligentSystems, who we know provides CommunityServer (which do come with source). I asked ComponentArt sales about Telligent and this was the response I received:-
"we have a special partnership with Telligent regarding the WEB.UI licensing. This licensing is not covered with our standard EULA."
So, I'll guess that I will wait until Telligent releases there next version of CommunityServer to see what the license entails.
