Recently, I have been investigating the idea of incorporate some of ComponentArt's fantastic controls into the modules on this site.

After the recent media release about TelligentSystems (creators of CommunityServer, an application that contains source). I thought that it actually could be a realistic outcome.

I have a few basic requirements:-

The modules must be able to be distribtued with the controls to unlimited numbers of servers.
The modules must be able to be recompiled by the end user (if necessary).

It seems I can distribute with some obsufcation of the control, but not allow the end user to recompile (I'm awaiting a message back for clarification). What I am wondering though, is how is Telligent doing it then?

i played with a demo of some of their older controls. i thought they were a little heavy. but the new ajax versions are awesome!

whoops, i double checked. i meant componentone -- componentone's controls are heavy. componentart looks fantastic? so if you integrate their controls will our subscriptions to your site go up?

I was thinking of implementing parts of them in my modules too, but actually I find CA still quite expensive - too expensive to pay off with selling of modules...

I need to use them on a safety system I am writing and thought they would be good for my modules at the same time

Scott-

I would be very interested to learn what you hear from CA. I noticed that announcment from Telligent as well about them statring to include CA controls and I am also wondering about the redistribution part.

I have a full license to Teleriks' controls and I have used them for a couple of custom modules but not for any mass purpose modules.
