At the end of last week, I finally ordered an upgrade for home desktop PC, it's a little over 3 years old and has performed well over that time.

I've now upgraded (awaiting delivery) of a brand new Alienware Aurora 7500.

Here are the quick specs:-
  • AMD X2 64-bit process 4800+
  • 2GB Low Latency Corsair Ram
  • Dual Raptors 10,000 RPM drive in Raid 0
  • Dual Nvidia 7800s in SLI
Delivery should be around the 25th of this month (from what I am told), so I'll post up some pics and benchmarks when it arrives!

Uhoh. ;-) Here's what I saw...

Hope they already delivered that! Just kiddin', (well, not the above message). Did you know that W2K3 Server doesn't run on 64-bit? and SQL2K doesn't either? I made the same mistake back in January. I *think* whidby runs on 64bit though. I have a copy but haven't installed it yet.

It hasn't been delivered yet - hopefully next week, delivery date is 8/22/2005.

I'm aware of what runs on 64bit, I know you can get a winxp 64 bit, but it's a pain to get drivers for it. So i'll probably stick on 32bit for a year or so, then upgrade.
