I posted an earlier entry about a company trying to trademark the term "dotnetnuke" in Australia. I had posted a link to the thread that John Salmon (OziWeb) had started.
Last night, I had an anonymous poster put a comment on that article entry.
Rather then make unfounded allegations against Oziweb , Feral Software or John Salmon I would suggest that if any one wishes to find out about the 'motives' of Dynam they simply ask the actual Company making the trade mark application.
First of all, I had only posted a link to the forum discussion which has become rather long. I spoke with John Salmon briefly via email but I want to stay clear of the entire matter, it is a tremendous waste of time.
I should not have to approach company X about the trademark, I would have thought I have done enough in devoting my free time to the project to deserve the courtesy of that company approaching me. We could have arrived at a sensible solution, rather then the confusion that the whole matter caused.
This has been discussed to death and I really have no desire to discuss it any longer and just let the Australian regulators decide what has to happen.
If I cannot use the term DotNetNuke in Australia, I guess I'll just move to New Zealand :p
